About Me

Olivier Christopher
Aubeeluck

HELLO! I'm Olivier Christopher Aubeeluck, a designer specialising in 3D interior visualisation, bespoke furniture, and custom lighting fabrication. For the past three years, I've been working as a CAD Designer at Metalite Co Ltd in Mauritius whilst running my own freelance practice alongside, taking on residential and commercial projects and bringing them to life through SketchUp, V-Ray, and Photoshop, backed by a solid technical foundation in Revit, AutoCAD, and Inventor.

Across every project, I've come to believe that good design starts with colour. Before anything else takes shape, I work with the client to define a palette that feels right for their space. That palette informs every decision that follows.

To me, design sits at the intersection of precision and feeling. This portfolio is a record of the spaces I've built and the thinking behind them.

The brief was straightforward enough: a barbershop that actually feels good to be in. Peach Red sets the tone from the moment you walk through the door, warm and assured without being loud about it. Deep Slate Olive grounds the whole thing, and Naples Yellow comes through in the smaller details, a bit of light without the fuss. Teak wood does what it always does in a space like this, brings an honesty and warmth that no paint colour can replicate. Rattan keeps it from feeling too polished. Marble, used with some restraint, adds the right amount of weight. Compact at twenty-four square metres, but it never feels squeezed. The layout earns its space.

Challenges & Design Solutions

The client was quite set on having a gaming corner for guests whilst they waited, which on paper sounds simple and in practice rather less so. Getting it to sit properly within a working barbershop at that scale meant rethinking the zoning entirely, making sure it read as part of the design rather than something bolted on at the end. The rattan sofa was a separate headache altogether. Off-the-shelf proportions were either far too bulky or oddly slight for the room. Took a fair few rounds before landing on something that actually worked.

Project 01 — Barbershop

Barbershop

A commercial space where each zone works on its own terms, whilst belonging to one material story.

01
Concept & Material DirectionTeak sets the tone from the start. Rather than treating each zone as a separate brief, every decision feeds back into the same material language.
02
Spatial ZoningThe gaming corner needed a proper rethink. No partitions. The zone is defined through light levels and a change in floor height, it reads as distinct without being divided.
03
Material SelectionTeak, marble, rattan and stainless steel. Layered with intention, warm sits against cold, raw sits against refined. The tension between them is what gives the space its character.
04
Lighting StrategyBacklit mirrors, rattan pendants and the street-facing window all pull in the same direction. As the daylight shifts, the atmosphere shifts with it. The space feels different at noon than it does at six in the evening.
05
Materials & ColoursTeak, marble, rattan and brushed steel. Each material earns its place. Colour combinations taken from Sanzo Wada's A Dictionary of Colour Combinations. Nothing was left to chance.

The mountains are right there and you simply cannot ignore that, nor should you. The Chamarel view is the room, everything else is in service of it. Raw Sienna, Dark Tyrian Blue, Vinaceous Cinnamon and Ecru were chosen precisely because they sit comfortably alongside the landscape rather than pulling attention away from it. Oak wood gives the interior its backbone, linen softens the whole thing without going soppy about it. There is nothing in here that is working too hard. The light shifts through the day and the room shifts with it. Calm, considered, properly comfortable in the way that only comes when a space has been thought through rather than styled up.

Challenges & Design Solutions

The fireplace was the tricky one. The client knew exactly what she did not want, nothing too traditional, nothing too clinical, but pinning down the right reference took considerable time. Everything available commercially missed the brief in one direction or another. In the end the only sensible option was to start from scratch, work up the proportions properly, find the right people to fabricate it, and have it made specifically for this room. Longer route, but the right one.

Project 02 — Living Room

Living Room

A living room built around a view of Chamarel. The landscape makes every decision.

01
The Landscape as Starting PointThe view over Chamarel was the brief. Colours, materials and furniture were all chosen to sit alongside it rather than pull attention away from it.
02
Bespoke FireplaceNothing available off the shelf came close to what the room needed. The fireplace was drawn from scratch and made specifically for this space.
03
Material BalanceOak gives the room its structure and warmth. Linen softens what could otherwise feel stark. The dark ceiling brings the scale down without making the space feel heavy.
04
Piano ZoneThe Baldwin piano holds one end of the room together. The layout was worked out so the piano and the TV wall each have their own territory, neither one gets in the way of the other.
05
Materials & ColoursOak, linen and natural stone. Structure, softness and raw presence, each one where it needs to be. Colour palette referenced from Sanzo Wada's A Dictionary of Colour Combinations. Earth and green tones chosen to sit alongside Chamarel rather than reimagine it.

You arrive in the dressing room first. That was a deliberate choice and it changes everything about how the bedroom feels when you finally reach it. The double doors do their job well, there is a proper sense of arrival on the other side. Ivory Buff and Burnt Sienna carry the warmth through both spaces without making a song and dance of it. Deep Grayish Olive and Vandar Poel's Blue stop the palette from going too sweet. Meranti and walnut wood give the room its structure and weight, linen brings the ease, antique brass handles the finer details with a quiet confidence. Altogether it feels like somewhere that has been properly lived in, which at the end of the day is rather the point.

Challenges & Design Solutions

The client was firm about one thing from the outset: no walking straight into the bedroom from the corridor. Privacy mattered and that was non-negotiable. Rather than treat it as a constraint to design around, it became the central idea. The dressing room as arrival space, the double doors as the moment of transition. What started as a practical requirement ended up giving the suite its character entirely.

Project 03 — Bedroom

Bedroom

A suite laid out as a sequence. From the dressing room through to the bedroom, every transition is thought through.

01
Entry SequenceThe dressing room comes first. The double X-cross doors mark the threshold into the bedroom proper. It creates a sense of arrival that you would not get from a standard door off a corridor.
02
The X-Cross DoorThe meranti door is the piece the suite is built around. The X-cross detail ties both rooms together, visually and materially, without needing anything else to do that job.
03
Tropical RestraintPalm leaf prints and monstera plants bring something of Mauritius into the room without leaning into it too heavily. One botanical gesture per space. That is quite enough.
04
Bespoke JoineryThe dressing unit runs the full perimeter. A deliberate gap left at ceiling height keeps the cable runs accessible, a practical decision that sits completely out of sight.
05
Materials & ColoursMeranti, linen, cotton and botanical elements. Warm and textured, without asking to be noticed. Palette referenced from Sanzo Wada's A Dictionary of Colour Combinations. Ivory, beige and off-white, tones that hold back and give the room room to breathe.

Made to measure and fitted to the specific proportions of the room. Meranti wood throughout the joinery, stainless steel tube hugger rails keeping the functional side of things clean and unfussy. A freestanding bench sits at the centre of the room, upholstered in Vandar Poel's Blue, the one proper moment of colour in an otherwise material-led space. It holds its own without trying. Everything else is content to let the wood and the craft do the talking.

Challenges & Design Solutions

One detail worth mentioning that tends to get overlooked on bespoke joinery of this kind. A gap was left deliberately between the top of the unit and the ceiling to keep access to the electrical cables above clear and unobstructed. Should anything need attention up there later, nobody has to touch the joinery to get to it. The sort of thing that takes thirty seconds to consider at the right moment and saves a considerable amount of bother further down the line.

Dressing Room

The room you pass through before you reach the bedroom. Functional, considered, and part of the same sequence.

01
Form and ConfigurationJoinery across all four walls. Every surface is put to use, every centimetre accounted for. The storage capacity is generous without the room ever feeling like a cupboard.
02
Material ChoiceMeranti for its warm grain, its ease of working and its durability in a humid climate. Stainless steel rails for the contrast, cool against warm, without competing.
03
Storage LogicOpen shelving for the things you reach for daily. Rails for hanging. Lower drawers for folded pieces. The integrated bench sits in the centre, simple, and genuinely useful.
04
Architectural IntegrationThe X-cross detail carries over from the bedroom door into the dressing room itself. The joinery feels like part of the architecture rather than furniture that was brought in afterwards.
05
Materials & ColoursMeranti left in its natural state, stainless steel rails, warm lighting integrated directly into the joinery. Colour relationships worked from Sanzo Wada's A Dictionary of Colour Combinations to hold the dressing room and bedroom together as one suite. Warm timber, cool steel, warm light, the same sequence from one room to the next.

Designed for a commercial workspace in Curepipe, this bespoke L-shaped shelving unit was developed to maximise storage within a corner layout. The design combines pine timber shelving with a black-painted steel structure, providing both durability and visual clarity. Particular attention was given to proportion, functionality and ease of manufacture.

Challenges & Design Solutions

The main challenge was resolving the corner junction without making the shelving appear as two separate pieces. The transition between both sides of the unit required careful coordination to maintain visual continuity and structural stability. The steel framework was developed as a continuous element, allowing the shelving to read as a single integrated piece whilst maximising storage capacity.

This shelving unit was designed to provide practical storage for a commercial environment. The project focused on producing a straightforward and durable solution using pine timber and a steel frame. The design prioritised functionality, efficient use of materials and ease of fabrication.

Challenges & Design Solutions

The project required a balance between storage capacity and visual simplicity. Increasing the overall size would have improved storage, although it would also have made the unit appear heavy within the space. The proportions were refined throughout the design process, resulting in a shelving system that provides practical storage whilst maintaining a clean and organised appearance.

This project involved the development of a bespoke ceiling fixation detail for a suspended light fitting. The objective was to design a secure and discreet support system that could integrate seamlessly with the architectural structure whilst maintaining a clean visual appearance. The design was developed through detailed modelling and technical documentation in Autodesk Inventor, with particular attention given to constructability, durability and installation requirements.

Challenges & Design Solutions

The main challenge was fixing the pendant light securely to an existing 200 mm wide timber beam. The solution needed to provide sufficient structural support whilst maintaining a clean and discreet appearance. A bespoke fixing detail was developed to ensure stability and durability without compromising the overall design. The final installation integrates naturally with the existing structure and allows the pendant light to remain the primary visual feature of the space.
